LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams concluded the 2021 season at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park. The regional included teams from South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky.
In the women's 6K, freshman
Alexus Atkins was 100
th overall with a time of 22:23.7 that was the eighth-fastest time in school history at that distance. Freshman
Mary Claire Ridgeway posted a time of 23:27.9 and freshman
Carolyne Shealy finished in 24:29.2.
Junior
Beck Classey ran the men's 10K and finished 104
th overall in a time of 31:48.7. His time set a new school record in the distance, breaking the mark set by Trey Parker in 2009 (32:17.0).
Overall, N.C. State won the women's race, with Wake Forest winning for the men. The top two teams from each of the nine regionals earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championship.
The indoor track and field season will begin on December 3-4 at the Appalachian Open in Boone, North Carolina.
