ATLANTA, Ga. – Senior
Lina Settelmayer (+10) led the Terriers with her first top-25 finish of the season, tied for 22
nd, as the Wofford women's golf team finished 14
th in the Georgia State Invitational at the Rivermont Golf Club.
Settelmayer opened the first round with a 77 before bouncing back in the second, finishing the round with a birdie on her last hole to match a season-low round with a 2-over-par 74 on Monday's first day of competition. The senior opened a solid back-nine performance, with two birdies, to go on and finish Tuesday's final round with a 75 for a team-low score of 226.
Wofford (+68) finished with a total score of 932 for the tournament, as Xavier (+18) won the team crown by three strokes over Kennesaw State (+21). High Point's Samantha Vodry (-5) won the individual crown, as host Georgia State's Mahina Leveau (-4) finished runner-up.
The Terriers recorded 23 birdies for the tournament, while collecting wins over Albany (+73) and Charleston Southern (+105).
Juniors
Becca Earl (+15) and
Kristine Torralba (+18) finished tied for 40
th and 52
nd, respectively. After a rough start on the first day with a 77 and 81 in the opening rounds, Earl finished strong, recording a 1-over-par 73 for a total of 231. Torralba's performance was highlighted by a 3-over-par 75 in the second round, after posting a 79 in the first, as she notched a team-best three birdies in the round to ultimately pace a total score of 234 for the tournament.
Sophomore
Nicole Amos (+26) and
Lindsey Hollis finished tied for 74
th and 80
th respectively, while
Emma King (+18) finished tied for 52
nd competing as an individual.
Next, the Terriers prepare for the 2021 Southern Conference Championships, slated for Monday, April 19-20 at the Kiawah Island Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C.
