SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2020-21 Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Teams, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom, on Thursday afternoon, as Wofford volleyball's Riley Coonan was selected as a First Team All-District 4 (AL, FL, GA, PR, SC) honoree.

Coonan, a Phi Beta Kappa honoree and double major in accounting and finance with a 3.99 GPA, is just one of two players from the Southern Conference to be named to District 4's first team (Sierra Rayzor, Samford).

The nod adds to Coonan's lengthy list of postseason honors from the 2020-21 season, as she marked the first AVCA All-Region accolade for the program with All-Region East Coast honorable mention accolades, while also collecting First Team All-Southern Conference and SoCon All-Tournament Team recognition prior.

The Jacksonville, Florida native finished the 2020-21 campaign as the team's points leader (226.5), while also leading the team with 181 kills and 2.78 per set. Coonan also finished third in the conference with a .313 hitting percentage. Highlighted by two season-high 17-kill performances, Coonan reached double-digit kill totals in 12 matches, collecting SoCon Offensive Player of the Week honors on Feb. 23. Additionally, Coonan finished second on the squad with 61.0 blocks on the season, averaging 0.94 per set, as she reached five or more blocks on six occasions this season.

The 6-foot-1 middle blocker leaves her mark on the Wofford volleyball program, as Coonan finishes her career with the Terriers fifth all-time in blocks (314) and fourth all-time in solo blocks (87).

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early July.
