Morgan and Tillery Compete in The Spring League

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College football alumni Blake Morgan and JoJo Tillery will wrap up the 2021 season with The Spring League on Friday. Morgan and Tillery both play for the Alphas, who will play the Linemen at 7:00 p.m. on FS1.

In the season opener, Blake Morgan had 14 carries for 139 yards and one touchdown to earn North Division Player of the Week honors.

"It has been fun for sure especially just being able to play football again," said Morgan. "It has been a short season, but it feels like I've known the team for a while now, so that is good. I was forwarded a link to submit my film and got a call from our head coach (Peter Vaas) and about two weeks later I was on my way. I hope to get an opportunity to further my career after putting some film together from these games, wherever that may be."

Tillery, who spent time with the Tennessee Titans in 2019, was signed to play for the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL in 2020 before the season was canceled.

"This season has been pretty good," said Tillery. "I haven't played in over a year since the CFL canceled last season, so it is just good to be back doing what I love. My agent brought The Spring League to my attention and after doing a little research, we thought it would be a good idea to do this to prove that I still have what it takes to be in the league. Hopefully I'll get invited to a training camp and get back to playing in the NFL."

Morgan, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, graduated from Wofford in 2020. During the 2019 season he had 751 rushing yards on 144 carries with nine rushing touchdowns. For his career with the Terriers, he played in 44 games with 306 carries for 1,886 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. He added 48 receptions for 663 yards and two touchdowns as he had 2,558 all-purpose yards in his career.

Tillery, from Hixson, Tennessee, started all 13 games for the Terriers at free safety in 2018. He was named second team All-Southern Conference by the coaches following the season. For his career at Wofford, he played in 51 games with 27 starts in the secondary. He recorded 160 total tackles, 106 of which were unassisted. Also included in his career statistics are two sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, 14 pass break-ups, and four interceptions.
