SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College senior Colin Davis was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 7th round of the 2021 MLB Draft. The 2021 Southern Conference Player of the Year was the 204^th overall selection.

I am excited to get started on this next part of the journey with the Mariners and see where it takes me."
 
Davis, a senior from Roswell, Georgia, was the first Terrier to earn Player of the Year honors. He started 50 games in centerfield this season and led the team in home runs with 11. In the Southern Conference, he was ranked ninth in batting average (.351), fourth in slugging percentage (.624), first in doubles (18), sixth in total bases (121), and fourth in stolen bases (18). He was named All-Southern Conference first team in 2021, second team in 2019 and All-Freshman in 2018.

For his career, Davis played in 181 games with 178 starts in center field. He posted a career batting average of .320 with 222 hits (11^th in school history), 152 runs scored (eighth in school history), 146 RBIs (seventh in school history), 393 total bases (third in school history) and 35 home runs (ninth in school history). He was the first player from the Southern Conference selected in the 2021 Draft.
 
Davis is the tenth Terrier drafted in the last fifteen years. Brandon Waring was selected in the 7^th round in 2007 while Michael Gilmartin (27^th), John Cornely (15^th), Alex Wilson (15^th), J.D. Osborne (36^th), Luke Leftwich (7^th), Will Stillman (6^th), Matt Milburn (29^th) and Adam Scott (4^th) were also recent selections.
