SPARTANBURG, S.C.
– Over 25 Wofford baseball players have wrapped up play in summer collegiate leagues across the country. Additionally, three former Terriers are competing professionally.
Ethan Belk was selected for the Coastal Plains League All-Star Game with Holly Springs and won the Fastest Man Award in the skills competition. Also competing in the CPL were
Tanner Hardin (Holly Springs),
Brady Gold (Holly Springs),
Austin Laughlin (Holly Springs) and Cordin Childers (Forest City).
Wofford was well represented in the Northwoods League, with
Cade Collins,
Noah Gerrick, J.T. Smith and
Mason Compton helping Traverse City to 45 wins. Junior transfer Liam Ebbs played with Mankato, hitting .324.
In the Valley Baseball League, Strasburg's Thomas Kirwan was named All-North First Team as a utility player, as he filled a variety of roles defensively while hitting .328 with two homers.
Cole Draper (Charlottesville),
Davis Rivers (Strasburg), Tanner Craytor (Charlottesville) and
Harrison Campi (Charlottesville) also played in the VBL.
Incoming freshman catcher Jonathan Griggs was named a Perfect Game Collegiate Summer League West Division Midseason All-Star with Auburn. Titus Hutchings also played with Auburn, while
Lucas Vargo and Anthony DePetro were with Saugerties.
The Appalachian League had five Terriers in action, with
Zach Porter and
Hiram Lewis in Johnson City and
Miller Alston, P.J. Fitzpatrick, and
Alex Myers in Bluefield. Myers had a .387 batting average, with Alston striking out 29 batters in 26.2 innings.
Will Watson and Connor O'Mara played with Olean in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. In the Cal Ripken League,
Jack Euart saw action with Southern Maryland and junior transfer Brad Larson was with the Alexandria Aces.
Professionally, Ryan Galanie has played in 85 games with the AAA Charlotte Knights in the Chicago White Sox organization after beginning the season with the AA Birmingham Barons. Marshall Toole has played in 38 games with the A Bowling Green Hot Rods, Toole began the season with the Charleston River Dogs before being promoted to Bowling Green in the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He is currently on the injured list. Colin Davis is with the High Point Rockers after spending most of the season with the Tacoma Rainiers, the AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
