SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College football team completed fall camp on Saturday morning with a walk-through for approximately ninety minutes at Gibbs Stadium.
After a simulated pregame with stretching and warm-ups, the team moved into a situational walk-though. A wide variety of situations were covered, including all three phases of the game with an emphasis on special teams.
"This year was a little different for us because the only goal I had for camp was for every guy to get better every single day and make continuous improvement," said head coach
Josh Conklin. "I feel like we did that individually and in all three phases – offensively, defensively and special teams. I am excited about where we are at. I know the guys are ready to after someone wearing another color and compete, so we are excited for the opportunity.
"We have over 40 newcomers that have come into this team as transfers and freshmen," continued Conklin. "The chemistry and camaraderie are a completely different feel than in the spring. It is a completely different team and they have come together over the last two months in training during June and July. They are a close group. I don't know if that will turn into winning games but they are a whole lot of fun to be around."
After an off day on Sunday, the Terriers enter game week preparations with morning practices on Monday and Tuesday before classes begin on Wednesday.
