COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's indoor track and field took part in the South Carolina Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Carolina Indoor Track and Field Complex. The Terrier had numerous top 20 finishes and two new school records were set.
In Friday's events,
Netanya Linares was tenth in the pole vault at 3.30 meters.
Chandler Robinson was 11
th in the long jump with a distance of 5.16 meters, with
Georgia McDevitt 17
th at 4.96 meters.
Theron Bradford was tenth in the 400 meters at 49.24.
Rylee Jorgensen took ninth place in the women's triple jump at 11.12 meters. In the 400-meter invite race,
Jasmine Jefferson was 11
th at 57.52 and
Dahlia Cutler was 15
th at 59.41. For the men in the 400-meter invite,
Conor Murphy was 11
th at 48.95 to set a new school record, besting the previous mark of 49.23.
The men's 5,000 meters started things off on Saturday with
Carson Archie taking first place in a school-record time of 15:12.10 while
Beck Classey was fourth at 15:27.74 and
Demir Degirmenci 13
th at 17:01.61. The previous record in the event was 15:24.97 set in 2010 by Trey Parker. In the women's 5,000 meters,
Katharine Spence was fourth at 19:33.45,
Ava Fowler was fifth at 19:38.08 and
Carolyne Shealy was tenth at 20:14.75.
Jasmine Jefferson took ninth place in the 200 meters at 25.28.
Sebastian LaTorre was ninth in the pole vault at 4.20 meters and
Ben Kendall was 13
th in the high jump at 1.80 meters. In the invitational high jump,
Tanner Henry was seventh at 2.02 meters.
Alexus Atkins ran a 18:40.90 for fourth place in the women's 5,000-meter invitational race. To wrap up the day, the women's 4x400 relay was sixth overall in 3:56.92.
The meet featured over 40 teams and numerous individuals, including several Olympians and World Champions.
The Terries will next compete on February 11 and 12 at the VMI Winter Classic, which will be the final regular season meet before the 2022 Southern Conference Indoor Championship on February 26 and 27 in Lexington, Virginia.
