CULLOWHEE, N.C. – On the opening day of the 2026 Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at the Catamount Athletic Complex, Wofford College had strong overall performances, including an individual championship by
Patrick Green II in the men's long jump.
The women's team is sixth (15.5 points) and the men's squad is currently tied for fifth (16 points) after the first day of events. Fifteen Terriers also advanced from qualifying to the Tuesday finals in 17 spots.
In the field events,
Maggie Frana was eighth in the women's hammer throw at 43.34 meters.
Joey Swick was seventh in the men's pole vault at 4.30 meters. In the men's long jump,
Patrick Green II took the title with a personal best of 7.19 meters. He is just the second Terrier to win a title in the event (Adrien Borders, 2003 and 2005).
Zico Bennett was fifth in the long jump at 7.01 meters. In the women's pole vault,
Olivia Burroughs was third at 3.35 meters, while
Pamela Ann Pope cleared 3.20 meters to place fifth. In the women's javelin,
Gianna Ortiz was fourth in 36.30 meters.
Following the first four events of the heptathlon,
Olivia Bagg is first overall with 3,121 points. She was first in the 100-meter hurdles and high jump.
Isabelle DuChemin was first in the 200 meters and is currently third with 2,921 points.
Irene Pardo is eighth with 2,474 points.
In qualifying heats on the track, highlights included
Taylor Jennings-Ward having the top time in the 400 meters and multiple personal bests.

This year marks the 101st men's championship and the 39th women's championship. Samford is currently first in the women's championship with 71.5 points and Samford is also first with 51 points on the men's side.
