MILL SPRING, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed on Friday at the Tryon Banked Collegiate Invitational, held at the Tryon International Indoor Complex. The Terriers had multiple top ten finishes in the meet, including wins in both the men's and women's 4x400 relay.
In the field events,
Olivia Burroughs was fourth in the pole vault at 3.55 meters for the women and
Joey Swick was second for the men at 4.45 meters.
Ellie Sawicki was ninth in the weight throw at 14.15 meters, and she added a fifth place in the shot put at 12.74 meters.
Ava Cooper took eighth place in the high jump at 1.58 meters. In the triple jump,
Andrea Landrum set a personal best at 11.70 meters for the women and
Patrick Green II was second for the men at 14.96 meters, which set a new school record. The previous record was set in 2002 by Adrien Borders (14.93).
On the track,
JaKayla Campbell was third in the finals of the women's 60-meter hurdles in 8.73. In the finals of the women's 60 meters,
Emma Mills was seventh in 7.75.
Liam Jones set a personal best in the men's mile with a time of 4:17.47 for second place. In the women's 400 meters,
Monic Green was fourth at 58.08 and
Sofia LaCorte was tenth at 59.12.
Thomas Stamper was seventh in the men's 400 meters at 50.14. In the women's 800 meters,
Ava Dennis set a personal best at 2:20.57 to place third and
Sarah Turner was seventh in 2:21.84. In the men's 200 meters,
Zion Bennett was second in 21.74.
Madeline Smith ran the 3,000 meters in a personal best time of 10:45.90 to place eighth.
In the relays to cap the event, the Wofford women took first and second place in the 4x400 relay, with the team of
Taylor Jennings-Ward,
JaKayla Campbell,
Sofia LaCorte, and
Emma Mills winning with a time of 3:57.84. The men also won the 4x400 relay, as
Nigel Ransby,
Zion Bennett,
Liam Jones, and
Thomas Stamper posted a time of 3:18.66
Three Terriers competed in the pentathlon at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational hosted by the University of Louisville.
Sherika Christie won the B Division with a score of 3,714, as she was first in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump.
Olivia Bagg was third with 3,652 points and
Isabelle DuChemin was 12
th with a personal best 3,168 points.
Up next, the Terriers will compete at the VMI Winter Relays on Feb. 6 and 7.
