"Both Evangelia and Josie are great fits for the culture that has been established here. They are very talented players who place a high priority on academics, competing and being a great teammate. Evangelia Paulk is a 6-0 guard from Asheville High School in Asheville, N.C. Paulk has averaged double-digit point per game each season, including a stellar 19.3 PPG performance her freshman year to earn all-conference and third-team all-district honors. The next season, she rode 17.2 PPG and 7.7 RPG to another all-conference selection alongside first-team all-WNC and third-team all-district. Paulk was named co-conference MVP after her junior campaign that featured 12.7 PPG, 2.0 APG and 5.4 RPG. She was also all-state and second-team all-WNC. A multi-sport athlete, Paulk played one season of soccer and three seasons of volleyball. Off the court, she has volunteered with building children's playgrounds, blood drive set-up and other charitable works.
"We have recruited Evangelia for quite some time. She has been on campus and attended our summer camps for many years. Her and her family have felt like Terriers since day one of recruiting," said Garrity of Paulk. "I'm so excited that it's finally official. Evangelia is a talented multi-sport athlete that brings a tremendous competitive drive that will translate well to the college game. At 6-0 and super athletic, she can play and defend multiple positions on the court. Each year, Evangelia has improved and added to her skill set. She has always excelled at getting to the basket and is now just as dangerous knocking down threes. She has been well coached throughout her high school career and has been a part of a state championship team. 'E' has a great future ahead of her, and she is going to be fun to watch over the next four years in a Black and Gold uniform."
Josie Trabel is a 6-0 forward from East Central High School in St. Leon, Ind. A multi-time all-conference and all-state recipient, Trabel already boasts over 1,000-career points in just three seasons of play. As a freshman, Trabel was all-state while also being named Dearborn County MVP. She was Dearborn co-MVP each of the next two seasons. Her junior campaign was her most decorated, as she earned a plethora of honors highlighted by being a first-ever junior all-star, first-team all-state and varsity offensive MVP. Trabel owns East Central's records for field goals made in a game, season and career alongside the single-game scoring record of 36. Entering Trabel's senior season, she is already her school's leading scorer for a career. Trabel has also served as a youth basketball coach and is an Honor Society member.
"We were excited to learn about Josie kind of late in the recruiting process. But I am thrilled we did, because she is one heck of a basketball player," said Garrity on Trabel. "After getting to know her over the phone and having her and her family visit campus, we knew she would be a great fit for our culture. She, too, has had great coaching throughout her high school career. At 6-0, she's going to be a challenging match-up for opponents. One thing that Josie can really do is score the ball. She's a three-level scorer and really athletic. She gets to the rim, has a really good mid-range game and shoots the three with deep range and a lot of confidence. She's also going to be really good in our transition game and playing in space. I am really excited for Terrier fans to watch Josie, and I'm looking forward to her impact on our program both on and off the court."
The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to Wofford College and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
