Baseball Announces 2023 Schedule

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford head baseball coach Todd Interdonato announced today the schedule for the upcoming 2023 baseball season. The season opens on Friday, Feb. 17 at Russell C. King Field.

Wofford's schedule features a challenging non-conference slate in preparation for the grind of Southern Conference play. To be the best you have to beat the best as the old saying goes, and Wofford will look to do just that as non-conference play features four teams that made last season's NCAA Tournament – Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Wake Forest. A fifth Power Five team in Michigan State is on the slate in a neutral site contest at Fluor Field, home of the Greenville Drive and the SoCon Tournament.

"This year's schedule has new opponents, six road weekends, top-25 teams and some of the best mid-major teams in the country both in and out of SoCon play," said Interdonato of the 2023 schedule. "The league will continue to get better each year, and our strength of schedule outside of conference play needs to continue to prepare us to compete for SoCon Championships. Our players are looking forward to the challenge this year will bring, and they will do what is needed to be prepared to begin on February 17."

The Terriers open their season with 12-straight home contests at King Field on Wofford's campus. Opening weekend features a three-game set against Southern Illinois from Feb. 17-19. Wofford then welcome UNC Asheville for midweek action on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Kent State comes to town from Feb. 24-26 for three games, and then Winthrop comes over for a midweek match-up on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The opening homestand concludes with a four-game series against Sacred Heart from March 3-5.

Wofford then travels to Winthrop in a midweek contest for its first road game of the season on Tuesday, March 7. The following night the Terriers battle Michigan State at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C.

Wofford returns home to host a three-game series against Cincinnati from March 10-12.

Back on the road, the Terriers travel to Georgia in a midweek battle before heading up to Cincinnati to battle Xavier in a three-game set. Then Wofford travels to Georgia Tech for another midweek showdown.

This brings about the beginning of conference play, and Wofford opens SoCon action with a home series against VMI from March 24-26.

It's then a midweek test at Presbyterian before returning home to host Siena in three games over two days.

The Terriers will then embark on a road trip, traveling to College of Charleston for a midweek game before a three-game set at ETSU.

Wofford hosts Presbyterian in a midweek battle before then traveling to Western Carolina for a weekend series. That road trip concludes with a midweek game at Winthrop on April 18.

Samford then comes to town for a weekend series at King Field from April 21-23.

Back on the road, the Terriers travel to UNC Asheville and then Davidson for a pair of midweek contests. Remaining in the Tar Heel State, Wofford battles Wake Forest on Saturday, April 29 before staying in Winston-Salem for a neutral site affair against High Point.
