MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC today announced on February 2, 2022, the signing of Wofford College alumnus and defender Mitchell Myers, pending league and federation approval.
"Mitch was a player that we tracked heavily during the college season and then offered a contract after our closed trial," Head Coach Ben Pirmann said. "He has a great ability to get up the right side from his fullback position and really impact the final third."
"We believe that Mitch has the ability to transition into professional football very quickly with his skillsets and attitude," Pirmann added. "We are excited to have Mitch join us here in Memphis."
The 22-year-old South Carolina native played collegiate soccer at University of South Carolina prior to transferring to Wofford College for his junior and senior seasons. In 2018 Myers appeared in all 17 matches for the Gamecocks and tied for second on the team with nine points.
After missing the 2020 season due to an injury, Myers returned to field for Wofford College in 2021 and scored two goals. He also led the team with seven assists, tied for third in the Southern Conference, and earned All-SoCon honors.
"I'm honored to have the opportunity to be a part of such a great organization," Myers said. "I want to give a big thanks to everyone who helped make this happen and a big thanks to Memphis 901 FC for believing in me. Now I'm just ready to get to work."
Memphis 901 FC plays in the USL, with the season opener on March 12 against Pittsburgh.
