Becca Earl (+4) opened the 2022 spring season on a high note for the Wofford women's golf team in Panama City, tying for the most career wins and most top-five finishes at Wofford in collecting her third career individual medalist result out of 87 golfers at the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic, hosted by Lipscomb, on Tuesday afternoon. Lindsey Hollis (+18) added her fifth career top-20 finish additionally, as Wofford climbed ahead two spots on Tuesday to finish fourth out of 15 teams at the par-72, 5971-yard Nicklaus Course at Bay Point Golf Club.

Earl is now currently tied for most wins (3) with Lauren Dunbar '15, while also tying for the most top-five finishes in program history (9) with Alex Rankin '11.

"It's really cool to know I've tied the record," said
Becca Earl of the milestone performance. "One of my goals for the season was to win another tournament, so I'm very happy to have completed it and hopefully add to it later this season."

"I've really tried to focus on getting the ball around instead of being as technical with my swing as I was last year. This week I drove the ball pretty solid and my putting was good which I think was key in the weather conditions," added Earl of her early strides through the opening week of competition.

The Essex, England native led the field in birdies (9) and par-4 scoring (E) for the tournament, recording a round-low 73 to lead the pack in Monday's first round prior to sitting in second with a 76 after a prolonged second-round conclusion on Tuesday morning. Earl then stayed the course, finishing even with two birdies at the turn before carding back-to-back birdies on holes No. 13 and No. 14 to secure the win with a 1-under 71 and total score of 220. Â

Hollis finished tied for 20
th with five birdies to help pace the Terriers, using a 76 in the second round to pull within the top-20 leaderboard and hold steady for a total of 234.

Wofford (+63) finished with a total score of 927, jumping a total of three spots over the two-day tournament to corral the fourth-place finish. USC Upstate (+52) won the tournament's crown by six strokes over Jacksonville State (+58), while host Lipscomb (+61) narrowly edged Wofford by two strokes to finish third.

The Terriers scored wins over 11 schools, including two Southern Conference teams, in Georgia State, Jacksonville, Troy, Western Carolina, Samford, Belmont, North Alabama, Appalachian State, Southern Illinois, Bellarmine and Bucknell.

Speedy Kent (+19) finished tied for 24
th with a score of 235, followed by junior
Nicole Amos (+24) with a score of 240. Freshman
Maggie Jackson (+30) rounded out Wofford's lineup. Senior
Emma King (+38) finished tied for 62
nd as an individual.

The Terriers return to the course on Monday, Feb. 21-22, in Corpus Christi, Texas at the Islander Classic, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
