SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's track and field teams competed in two meets on March 25 and 26, with the split squad at both the Weems Baskin Invitational at the University of South Carolina and the Montreat Invitational. The team had numerous top ten finishes in the meets, including a win in the heptathlon by
Netanya Linares.
For the Montreat Invitational, the Terriers competed mainly in the multis and field events.
Paul Szuba was third in the javelin at 50.41 meters.
Netanya Linares scored 4,416 points in the heptathlon to take first place overall. She was first in the 100-meter hurdles, first in the high jump, first in the long jump, second in the 200 meters and second in the 800 meters. In the shot put,
Dani Emmen was fourth at 9.74 meters and
Giselle Cruz was tenth.
Lily Meetze was ninth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.16.
On Friday at the Weems Baskin Invitational, held at the Sheila and Morris Cregger Track,
Madeline McNinch was third in the long jump invite flight at 5.78 meters, while
Rylee Jorgensen was fifth at 5.62 meters in the main flight.
Dahlia Cutler was tenth in the 400 meters at 59.31 and
Cagan Campbell was seventh in the 100 meters at 11.01.
Patrick Daly was eighth in the 5,000 meters at 16:46.80.
During Saturday's competition in Columbia,
Mary Claire Ridgeway was fourth in the 1,500 meters at 4:52.26. The women's 4x100 relay was third in 46.30. In the women's 100-meter hurdles,
Kerrington Johnson (13.82) was fifth and
Destiny Shippy (14.47) was eighth overall. Johnson added a tenth place in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.49.
Jasmine Jefferson was 12
th in the 400-meter invite in 57.03. In the 4x400 meter relay to end the day, the women were eighth in 3:57.53 and the men were tenth in 3:24.30.
The Terriers will next compete at the Newberry Invitational on April 8 and 9, which will be held in Spartanburg at the District 7 track located at McCrackin Middle School.
