SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced today its selections for the all-conference baseball teams and all-freshman squad with 11 total Terriers earning recognition. Head coach

Lawson Hill was named player of the year by the media. Wofford garnered five first-team honorees, two second-team selections (one consensus) and three all-freshman nods.

Head coach
Todd Interdonato repeats this season as SoCon Coach of the Year after guiding Wofford to its second consecutive regular season conference title. The Terriers finished the SoCon slate with a 16-4-1 mark and an overall clip of 40-14-1. The 40 wins are a new program record, topping the 39 of the 2015 team. The Terriers were ranked nationally for three weeks this season from April 11 – May 1, reaching as high as No. 22 in the country.

Eleven total Terriers earned all-conference honors, with 10 players receiving recognition alongside Interdonato. The 11 different individuals are the most Wofford has ever had honored in a single season in the SoCon awards. They are also the most individual selections of any program in the conference this year.

Dalton Rhadans was a consensus second-team pick while

Fifth-year catcher
Lawson Hill was tabbed as the Player of the Year by the media and earned a consensus first-team nod. He is Wofford's second player of the year ever, joining former teammate
Colin Davis, last year's winner. Hill has been a bastion of consistency at the dish this season, hitting .394 in 55 games with 82 total hits. He has amassed 30 walks on the season as well, lifting his on-base percentage to .473. Hill adds 38 runs driven in and has stolen 11 bases. Earlier this season, Hill became Wofford's new all-time hits leader with a second single at Clemson on April 27 for his 266
th career hit to pass Mac Doyle's mark of 265. Hill also rode a 23-game hit streak from April 2 – May 13, second-longest in program history with 17 of the 23 affairs being multi-hit games. With only 13 strikeouts on the season, Hill ranks as the eighth-toughest player to strikeout in the nation and hasn't been retired on strikes since May 1. His .394 batting average leads the conference, and in the 21 league games the right-hander hit a whopping .506 with 42 base knocks.

Junior starting pitcher
Matthew Marchal earned a consensus first-team honor, the first of his career. In 79.2 innings over 17 games (16 starts), the right-hander has posted a 6-2 record with a 2.60 ERA. His 87 punchouts rank second in the conference. With only 12 walks issued, his strikeout-to-walk ratio of 7.25 ranks first in the league and 18
th-best in the nation. Marchal was named SoCon Pitcher of the Week earlier this season on March 7.

Senior first baseman
John Dempsey is the third Wofford player with a consensus first-team nod. The left-handed slugger slashed .368/.468/.618 on the season. He totaled 75 hits with 49 RBI and 32 walks. Dempsey clobbered 12 home runs alongside 15 doubles. He earned a SoCon Player of the Week honor on March 21, and then he was tabbed Player of the Month in March. This is Dempsey's first all-conference honor since receiving a consensus second-team selection in 2019.

Junior third baseman
Ryan Galanie is the fourth consensus first-team selection for the Terriers. The right-handed slugger slashed .330/.437/.665 with 68 hits and 58 RBI. He was the only Terrier to showcase more pop than Dempsey, smashing 17 long balls to finish second in the conference. He was the only Terrier with multiple multi-homer games, belting two homers in a game four times this season. He also tallied 13 stolen bases and four triples, which was second in the league. Galanie was named SoCon Player of the Week just yesterday, and he has also shown success in the classroom with a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection as well.

Senior designated hitter
Brennen Dorighi rounds out Wofford's consensus first-team selections. With a .341/.406/.568 slash line, the slugger totaled 60 hits and 52 RBI. He added 21 walks, 11 doubles and nine homers to go with his perfect 9-of-9 stolen base rate. Dorighi was named SoCon Player of the Week twice this season, the only Terrier to win it more than once.

Senior relief pitcher
Dalton Rhadans was Wofford's lone consensus second-team selection. In 32 appearances, the righty posted a 2.94 ERA with a 7-3 record and 10 saves over 67.1 innings. He totaled 68 strikeouts with just 10 walks issued. Rhadans' 10 saves led the conference and rank 19
th nationally, while his seven wins tied for second in the league. Rhadans was twice named SoCon Pitcher of the Week to go along with his SoCon Pitcher of the Month nod in March.

Josh Vitus was honored on the second team by the media. Vitus was 4-3 on the season with a 2.88 ERA in 11 starts. Over 40.2 innings of work, the righty struck out 40 batters while only allowing seven free passes. Like Rhadans, he was also twice named SoCon Pitcher of the Week this season.

Wofford's three all-freshman selections tie the 2019 honorees for the most in a single season in program history. They also tie the three selections from The Citadel for the most by a single school this season.

Right-handed pitcher
Carter Bailey is the first all-freshman honoree for the Terriers. Bailey was 2-0 with a 3.80 ERA over 16 games (three starts). He picked up 15 strikeouts to seven walks over 21.1 innings.

Coulson Buchanan joins Bailey with his 4-1 record and 4.50 ERA. Buchanan pitched 52.0 innings over 15 games (five starts) with 60 punchouts and 16 walks. Buchanan's 60 strikeouts were best among Wofford's freshmen and were third overall on the squad. He also added a save as the only Terrier aside from Rhadans to earn one.

Outfielder
Marshall Toole was Wofford's best freshman bat, slashing .267/.451/.322 in 45 games with 30 starts. He picked up 24 hits with 11 RBI and worked 20 walks. Toole was 16-of-18 on stolen bases, good for third in the conference.

Wofford carries its best-ever record into the Southern Conference Tournament this weekend, where the Terriers enter as the No. 1 seed. With a double-bye, the Terriers will play their first game of the double-elimination bracket on Friday, May 27 against a to be determined opponent. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 a.m. start at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C.
