Wofford Baseball Set for the Southern Conference Tournament

SPARTANBURG, S.C.—Wofford Baseball enters the 2026 Southern Conference Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will open play on Wednesday against either No. 5 The Citadel or No. 8 VMI at Fluor Field. The matchup is a part of the double elimination round where the winner will face off against the No. 1 seed Mercer on Thursday, May 21, at 9 a.m.

The Terriers are 30-24 (12-9 SoCon) and concluded their regular season with a series loss (1-2) at Samford. The Citadel Bulldogs are 30-24 and 11-10 in conference play coming in with a series sweep over VMI (28-26, 3-18 SoCon) to conclude their regular season. During their regular season series, the Terriers claimed a series sweep over the Bulldogs at King Field and had a series win (2-1) in Lexington, Virginia against VMI.

Quick Hits:
  • Alec Bouchard was named SoCon Pitcher of the Year, making him the second Terrier in program history to achieve the honor. Bouchard was also honored on the All-SoCon First Team.
  • Ben Timblin and Cullen Condon earned SoCon Second Team honors. While Brady Gold earned All-Freshman team honors and Niko Brini All-Defensive team honors.
  • Logan Tribble (.375) leads the team and is ranked third in the conference in batting average.
  • Ben Timblin leads the team in RBI (63), home runs (15), and slugging percentage (.695). He ranks third in conference and 35th in the nation in RBI and is fourth in the conference in slugging.
  • Hunter Herndon has found himself to be the toughest to strike out (10.9) in the Southern Conference. This ranks him 58th in the nation.
  • The Terriers have been hit by pitch 121 times this season, ranking first in the conference and ninth in the nation.
  • Cade Collins ranks third in the SoCon in hit by pitches (23). Collins is tied for the most hit by pitches in a single season in program history.
  • With 21 triples this season, Wofford is first in the SoCon for the third-straight year, ranking the Terriers third in the nation.

SoCon All-Conference Honors:

The Southern Conference announced their 2026 postseason honors yesterday with junior right-handed Alec Bouchard receiving Pitcher of the Year. Bouchard is the first Terrier since 2021 and just the second pitcher all-time in program history to receive the honor. Bouchard with a career year has led the SoCon in strikeouts, ERA, and victories.

Cullen Condon was awarded his second All-SoCon honors with a nod on the All-SoCon Second team. Ben Timblin received second team honors with Niko Brini being named to the All-Defensive team. Brady Gold rounds out the honors for the Terriers with his first nod being named on the All-Freshman team.

The Bouchard Blueprint:

The SoCon Pitcher of the Year is coming into the tournament as the conference leader with 101 strikeouts, nine victories and a 2.29 ERA. He also leads with innings pitched, strikeout-to-walk ratio and WHIP. Bouchard has the 10th most victories in a season and the ninth most strikeouts in a game (14) in program history, being the first Terrier since 2024 to do so. Bouchard joins Mason Snyder of Western Carolina and Michael Harpster of ETSU to earn SoCon Pitcher of the week twice so far this season.

Ben HIM-blin:

Sophomore outfielder Ben Timblin holds one of the top batting averages in conference play with a .348. In SoCon play, Timblin has 20 runs on 24 hits, including four doubles, two triples, and eight home runs with 26 RBI. He is currently tied for third in the SoCon in RBI with 63. Timblin also has the highest slugging percentage on the team at .695 and ranks fourth in the conference. He also is just one of four underclassmen to have been named SoCon Player for the Week this season.

Overall, Timblin holds a .322 batting average through 50 games and 174 at bats. Timblin has earned 51 runs on 56 hits, including eight doubles, six triples and 15 home runs, two being grand slams. He also holds the most stolen bases on the team with 15 on 17 attempts. Timblin has found himself rising in the national rankings, being eighth in triples (8). He also ranks in the top 25 in RBI per game and in the top 50 for RBI and slugging percentage.

It's All About That Base:

Terriers' Logan Tribble, Cade Collins and Ben Timblin know all too well about getting on base this season. Logan Tribble leads the team with a. 483 on-base percentage. Collins follows with a. 465 and Timblin with a. 435. Cade Collins had the longest reached base streak for the Terriers at 31 games, but senior Niko Brini followed that by reaching in 33 games. Both Collins and Brini have current nine-game on base streaks. Niko Brini, Hunter Herndon and Lucas Manning are other starting Terriers that hold an on-base percentage of above .400.

Wofford holds the second best on-base percentage in the Southern Conference and is 15th in the nation at 0.422. Wofford also ranks third in the conference and just inside the top 50 in the nation with 273 walks. Another way the Terriers have made in on base this season is hit by pitch. The Terriers are currently first in the SoCon and ninth in the nation with 121 hit by pitch. Cade Collins has walked 41 times this season with 23 hit by pitches. Collins is tied for the most hit by pitches in a single season in program history.
