SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford head men's basketball coach
Jay McAuley announced the addition of three incoming freshmen to Wofford's 2022 signing class, as the Terriers welcome guards Chase Martin, Adam Silas and Amarri Tice to the program.
"We are excited to add three more outstanding student-athletes to our program," said McAuley on the additions. "Wofford's brand and championship tradition allows our program to recruit nationally and attract very talented and high-character young men. Please help us in welcoming these future Terriers and their families to Wofford."
Martin, a 6-foot-5 guard from Jenks, Okla., joins the Terriers after starring at Jenks High School as a three-time All-Frontier Valley Conference honoree, while leading Jenks to 71 wins over his four years. Martin led Jenks to a 21-7 record this past season, including a state quarterfinals appearance, while averaging 15.8 points, 4.0 assists and 7.4 rebounds as a second team All-Frontier Valley selection and Oklahoma Coaches Association (OCA) and Tulsa World All-State selection. Martin also received second team all-conference honors for his junior season in 2021 after leading Jenks to regionals with an 11-5 mark on 15.1 points, 3.9 assists and 7.1 rebounds, while collecting third team all-conference honors en route to a 21-win season and state quarterfinals appearance his sophomore year at Jenks in 2020. An ambitious student-athlete both on and off the court, Martin has been selected to the Principal's Honor Roll all four years at Jenks, while volunteering with organizations such as student council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
"Chase comes from outstanding high school program that is used to winning," added McAuley of Martin. "He played in the highest classification in his state, as well as on the EYBL circuit for AAU summer ball. Chase is a terrific young man that is highly skilled in a lot of areas on the basketball court and was a captain for his team."
Tice, a 6-foot-7 wing from Newburgh, N.Y., joins the program after averaging 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists this past season at prestigious prep power South Kent School in Connecticut. Previously named a top-40 player in New England by Prep Hoops, Tice led South Kent to a National Prep Championships appearance in 2022, while starring at Newburgh Free Academy prior to his senior season at South Kent School. During his junior season, Tice was named a Times Herald-Record First Team selection after leading Newburgh Free Academy to a Section 9 Class AA title on team-highs of 14.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. A versatile scorer and dynamic athlete, Tice also competed in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) with Albany City Rocks on the AAU circuit, shooting 47 percent from beyond the arc on averages of 9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.7 steals.
"Amarri comes to us from an outstanding program (South Kent Prep) that has traditionally produced several talented college basketball players over the years," said McAuley of Tice. "He too has played at the highest level in AAU basketball and will look to bring that level of experience with him to our program. Amarri's athletic ability combined with versatile skillset is something every roster needs and certainly ours will benefit greatly from adding him to the team."

Silas, a 6-foot-3 guard from Vauxhall, NJ., joins the Terriers after guiding his team to a 27-2 record and a state tournament appearance while averaging 19 points, 5 assist and 3 rebounds this past season at St. Thomas Aquinas in New Jersey. The senior guard was named second team All-State (New Jersey) after a very productive and successful senior season. Adam played AAU basketball with the highly competitive New York Jayhawks adidas circuit. An accomplished student-athlete on and off the court, Silas has been on the honor roll for the past two years at St. Thomas Aquinas.
"Adam is a terrific young man and an electric ball player. We are excited to add his speed, athleticism and scoring ability to our roster, as well as his length to impact the defensive end of the court. As another proven winner, we are excited about adding such a talented individual to the Wofford program."
Tice, Silas and Martin join a Wofford basketball program that has become a mid-major power and consistent championship contender in the Southern Conference, including five titles and NCAA Tournament appearances since 2010, while being nationally recognized regularly as a top-20 3-point shooting team. Additionally, the program has prided itself on academic excellence, having landed three Academic All-SoCon and 17 SoCon Academic Honor Roll selections since 2019.
