SPARTANBURG. S.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team reported to campus on Monday to begin preparations for the upcoming 2022 season. The first practice for the team is set for Tuesday morning.
Head coach
Joel Tyson begins his fourth season as head coach for the Terriers and welcomes 37 players on the roster. The roster includes 20 returning players along with 17 newcomers.
The team returns eight starters from the 2021 team, including
Magnus Kjoller,
Amin Mohammedi and
Nic Parker, all of whom were named to the 2021 Southern Conference All-Freshman First Team last season. The team also returns
Brandon Oddy, who led the team with eight goals during the 2021 campaign.
Joshua Old returns after posting a goals against average of 1.62 along with 51 saves last season.
The team has their first exhibition match at the end of the week against Clemson on Saturday, August 13, at the newly renovated Snyder Field at 7:00 p.m. The defending national champion Tigers come to town after being unanimously ranked No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll. Wofford will host two additional exhibitions against Davidson and Erskine before wrapping up the exhibition slate at the College of Charleston.
The regular season begins with a home match on Thursday, August 25, as the Terriers welcome Gardner-Webb to Snyder Field. The Southern Conference schedule begins on Saturday, October 1, when Wofford travels to Mercer.
