CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's track and field teams opened the outdoor season on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Charlotte 49ers Classic at the Belk Track and Field Center. The Terriers had numerous top ten finishes and
Netanya Linares won the high jump.
In the 100-meter hurdles,
Kerrington Johnson was fourth (14.04) and
Netanya Linares was seventh (14.40).
Grant Witherspoon was ninth in the men's 110-meter hurdles at 15.31 and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles at 54.90.
Ella Tennant was eleventh in the women's 100 meters at 12.17, which is a new Wofford freshman record in the event.
Dahlia Cutler was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 57.69, while
Robert Hilsman was 12
th in the event for the men at 50.14. in the 400-meter hurdles,
Kerrington Johnson was fourth (1:03.00) and
Marga Van Der Linde was eighth (1:04.64).
Morgan Roberts was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase 11:25.49.
Camille Terracina was seventh in the open 5,000 meters at 19:11.27, while
Alexus Atkins was eighth in the 5,000-meter invitational at 17:54. 39.
In the field events which covered both days,
Jenna Reid was third in the hammer throw at 49.25 meters and second in the javelin at 41.01 meters.
Ellie Sawicki set a new Wofford freshman record in the discus at 36.61 meters, which was good for tenth place.
Tanner Henry was second in the high jump at 2.00 meters and
Paul Szuba was sixth in the javelin at 51.70 meters.
Netanya Linares won the group A high jump at 1.65 meters.
In the heptathlon,
Presley Worf was tenth overall with 3,302 points, which included third place finishes in the 200 meters and 800 meters.
Sebastian LaTorre took sixth place in the decathlon with 5,217 points as he had top-five finishes in the discus, pole vault and javelin.
Up next for the Terriers will be the Don McGarey Invitational hosted by Kennesaw State on March 24 and 25.
