SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Tennessee Invitational and the Newberry Hub City Invitational over the past three days. Despite both meets being held in rainy conditions, the Terriers posted numerous top ten finishes.
At the Tennessee Invitational,
Jenna Reid started off with a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.03 meters on Thursday afternoon. On Friday,
Madeline McNinch was 14
th in the long jump at 5.60 meters and
Nevius Fisher was fourth in the men's long jump at 7.09 meters.
Grant Witherspoon was 12
th in the 400-meter hurdles at 56.64.
Jenna Reid added a third place in the javelin at 42.99 meters, with
Sebastian LaTorre seventh in the event for the men at 45.46 meters.
On Saturday in Knoxville,
Netanya Linares was second overall in the heptathlon with 4,642 points, which included first place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump.
Kerrington Johnson was ninth in the 100-meter hurdles semifinals at 14.41 and
Grant Witherspoon was 11
th in the 110-meter hurdles semifinals in a time of 15.28.
Ella Tennant posted a time of 12.32 in the 100 meters to take seventh place.
Nevius Fisher was 14
th in the men's 100 meters at 11.26.
In the 400 meters,
Robert Hilsman was fourth at 49.93 for the men and
Jasmine Jefferson was fourth for the women at 56.10.
Tanner Henry cleared 1.95 meters for a fifth-place finish in the high jump. In the 4x100 relay, the Wofford women were third at 47.32.
The Tennessee Invitational included 23 schools, including Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Dayton, East Tennessee State, Indiana, Middle Tennessee State, Ohio State, Toledo, UAB, Virginia Tech and Xavier.
At the Newberry Hub City Invitational at the McCracken Track in Spartanburg,
Mara Spadafora was sixth in the 400 meters at 1:03.88. In the men's 400 meters,
Conor Murphy was third at 52.05 and
Thomas Stamper was fifth at 52.59.
Shane Olander was tenth in the men's 100 meters at 11.51.
Lily Meetze was fourth in the women's 400-meter hurdles at 1:17.22, while
Ahmad Miles was first in the men's 400-meter hurdles at 1:03.46. In the men's 200 meters,
Conor Murphy was fourth at 24.13 and
Shane Olander was seventh at 24.53. In the 5,000 meters, Becca Hind was fifth (19:08.65) and
Camille Terracina was eighth (20:21.69. During field events,
Taylor Stingel was fourth in the javelin (23.93 meters).
Dani Emmen was sixth in the hammer throw at 42.21 meters and third in the discus at 30.88 meters. Also in the discus,
Deylon Harkey was fifth (27.32m) and
Storm Owens was seventh (23.56m).
Chase Edwards took first place in the men's discus at 41.93 meters and he was second in the shot put at 12.12 meters.
Quin Goodson was sixth in the discus and fifth in the shot put.
Over a dozen schools competed at the Hub City Invitational, including USC Upstate, Converse, Anderson and Erskine.
The teams will be back in action on Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15, at the Catamount Invitational hosted by Western Carolina.
