SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford claimed a pair of women's awards, with
Kerrington Johnson earning most Outstanding Track Performer honors and
Johnny Bomar being named Coach of the Year in a vote of the league's head coaches following the SoCon Outdoor Track and Field Championships earlier this week. The awards were two of eight specialty awards announced on Friday.
Kerrington Johnson scored 24.5 points on the track en route to earning Most Outstanding Track Performer honors. The senior from Anderson, South Carolina, won three titles and set a pair of program records Tuesday. She opened the final day of the meet by running the leadoff leg of Wofford's 4x100-meter relay. About 40 minutes later, she claimed her third straight SoCon title in the 100-meter hurdles. Later in the afternoon, she completed the hurdles sweep, winning her second career title in the 400-meter hurdles, winning in a school-record time of 1:01.13. She capped her day with another program record, this time running the third leg on the Terriers' 4x400-meter relay, which finished in second place in 3:46.67. Johnson is Wofford's second women's Most Outstanding Track Performer and first since 2019 (Hannah Steelman).
