SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The 2023 ABCA/Rawlings Division I All-Region Teams were announced today for all eight regions. Wofford's
Ryan Galanie was honored on the second team in the Atlantic Region. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association, and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-American Committee.
Galanie is the first Terrier in 13 years to be honored on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team. The last Wofford honoree was Mac Doyle in 2010. Galanie is only third all-region recipient in Wofford's Division I era, joining Brandon Waring in 2007 alongside Doyle. This recognition adds on to Galanie's already impressive list of accolades for the 2023 season, including being named
Southern Conference Player of the Year,
CSC Academic All-America and a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy. The native of Mason, Ohio, is one of just three SoCon players to be named all-region this season.
The 2023 season concluded with Galanie leading the league in hits (88) and RBI (66). He added a .383 batting average with a .491 on-base clip and .670 slugging percentage. The first baseman clubbed 17 home runs on the season and scored 73 runs while swiping 19 bases. He drew 40 walks and owned a .992 fielding percentage. Galanie's 73 runs tied Wofford's single-season program record, and his 88 hits fell just one short of tying the program's single-season mark. He ranked top five in the SoCon in average, hits, home runs, OBP, runs, RBI, slugging and total bases.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
