Men’s and Women’s Track Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the All-Academic Team honors for the 2023 NCAA Division I Track & Field seasons. The Wofford men's and women's teams were honored this season, along with Kerrington Johnson and Netanya Linares as individuals.
 
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team recognition, programs must have a 3.00 cumulative team GPA for all student-athletes on the NCAA squad list for indoor and outdoor track and field. The Wofford men's team had a 3.18 GPA and the women's team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.42.
 
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
 
    * For the indoor season: must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on final season performance lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).
 
    * For the outdoor season: must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I descending order lists on TFRRS for Outdoor Track and Field.
 
Johnson, a senior from Anderson, S.C., finished the NCAA East Preliminaries 38th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.64. At the 2023 Southern Conference Outdoor Championship she won both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles. At the Southern Conference Indoor Championship, won the 60-meter hurdles. Johnson, a finance major, won a total of ten SoCon individual titles during her Wofford career.
 
Linares, a senior from Waxhaw, N.C., majored in biology and Spanish. She qualified by ranking 76th on the 2023 NCAA Indoor qualifying list in the pentathlon. At the Southern Conference Indoor Championships, she won the pentathlon and was named Most Outstanding Athlete for the second time in her career. During the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships, she won the heptathlon.
