SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
FIU also carries a three-game winning streak into the contest. This weekend could be a battle of offenses, as the Panthers have recorded 15 games with 10+ hits as a team, boasting a team batting average of .292 and an OPS of .867. At 7-5 in Conference USA, FIU ranks second in that league in home runs with 45. The top power threat for the Panthers is Kishon Frett, who has 10 round-trippers. Brylan West tops the squad in batting average with a .354 mark. No pitchers for FIU have enough innings pitched (1 IP per team game played) with a balanced effort on the mound. Eight different Panther hurlers have pitched in 10 or more games. Game one starter Logan Runde boasts the most innings thrown with 32.0, one shy of meeting the qualification threshold. His start on Friday will be just his third of the season. The top arm has been Ryan Cabarcas, who tops the team in wins (four), saves (five) and strikeouts (39) while adding a 2.22 ERA. In 24.2 innings, Orlando Hernandez puts forth the best Panther ERA at 1.09.

GOING ON THE OFFENSIVE
The Wofford offense has been almost unstoppable so far in 2024, totaling 352 runs through 31 games of the season, barely second most in the nation, just one behind Tennessee's 353. At an average of 11.4 per game, the Terriers lead the country in scoring per game. This is aided by the country's best on-base percentage (.469) and batting average (.354) and fifth-most hits (373). With 19 triples, the Terriers also top the nation. Wofford has scored double-digit runs in 18 games so far this season and outscored its opponents 352-182. The Terriers have recorded 20 or more runs three times, including twice scoring 29 runs, a new single-game program record. All three of Wofford's 20-plus scoring outings totaled 27 or more runs, making the Terriers one of only three teams in the nation to do so at least twice (Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Texas Tech). The Red Raiders have done so twice with the Lions matching Wofford at three times, but two of those instances were against Division II opposition. Therefore, Wofford is the only program in the nation to tally 27 or more runs against Division I opposition three times this season. Wofford has recorded double-digit hits 20 times. It has been a balanced attack, as eight of the nine qualified Terrier hitters are batting over .300 with two of them sitting over .400.
Brice Martinez (.421) and
Marshall Toole (.415) are the duo hitting over .400 with
Dixon Black (.397) knocking on the door. Joining Black over .300 are
Daniel Jackson (.360),
Andrew Mannelly (.342),
Tyler Bak (.333),
Tyler Hare (.330) and
Jack Renwick (.321).

THE BRICE IS RIGHT
Fifth-year second baseman
Brice Martinez was an immediate contributor when he arrived on campus for the 2022 season, and last season saw his game elevate even further. After playing two seasons of JuCo ball, Martinez joined the Terriers in 2022 and quickly won the second base job, hitting .331 with 52 hits, 41 RBI and 11 steals. Last season, Martinez upped his game to hit .352 with 75 base knocks and 45 runs driven home alongside 16 swipes. That batting average ranked 10th in the SoCon last season. Martinez is featuring yet again as a key contributor in 2024, living up to the Preseason All-SoCon Team selection he garnered. With 51 hits and a .421 average, Martinez adds in 31 RBI with 37 runs scored and 17 walks drawn. He has also swiped 10 bases. His batting average is fourth in the conference and 18th nationally, and his .503 on-base clip is ninth in the league. His 51 hits lead the league while sitting 27th in the country. His runs scored rank fifth in the SoCon. Martinez is about as consistent as they come, owning a hit in 29 of the 31 games this season and reaching base safely in every game but one.
Â
ON-BASE MACHINES
With a potent offense, the Terriers have made themselves at home on the basepaths. Even more impressive is the consistency that many Wofford hitters have shown in regards to reaching base. Five Terriers currently boast on-base streaks of at least 15 games, led by
Marshall Toole. The junior has reached base safely in all 31 games this season.
Brice Martinez has been almost as consistent, currently owning an on-base streak of 23 games. He has reached safely in every game but one this year. This comes with a current 17-game hitting streak, and overall Martinez has a hit in each game but two.
Daniel Jackson adds in a 20-game on-base streak.
Dixon Black and
Andrew Mannelly are currently matching one another with both touting a current on-base streak of 16 games. Though no longer their current marks,
Tyler Bak once posted a 17-game on-base streak this season with
David Wiley adding in a 10-gamer of his own.
Â
SMALL BALL
Wofford, or Bunt School, uses a combination of stolen bases and sacrifice bunts to advance on the basepaths. The Terriers have swiped 96 bags this season, second both nationally and in the SoCon behind only VMI's 118. Wofford's 3.10 steals per game clip is third in the nation. With 31 sacrifices laid down, Wofford is sixth in the nation and leading the conference.
Marshall Toole and
Jack Renwick have six sacrifices each to tie for second most in the league, only one behind a trio of players with seven each. The duo rank 28th nationally.
Tyler Bak (four) ranks 10th in the SoCon behind them. Seven total Terriers have put down at least two sacrifices. Toole is a perfect 27-of-27 on stolen bases, tops in the SoCon and the nation. Wofford has stolen at least one base in every game but four this season. The Terriers have stolen at least three bases in 17 games and five or more in eight contests.

CAM CAN
Terrier freshman right-hander
Camden Wicker has been stout out of the bullpen to open his young career and even worked his way into the rotation, making his first start on April 6 against UNCG. He made his collegiate debut against Towson in game three and earned his first win with 2.0 innings of scoreless work out of the bullpen. He allowed only one hit with three strikeouts. In his first starting effort, Wicker put forth the best outing of his career with a career-high 7.0 innings of work with just one hit allowed and a single run, unearned, given up to secure the win. In all, Wicker boasts a 2.08 ERA with 25 strikeouts and 20 hits with just six walks in 30.1 total innings of work over eight outings. He is holding batters to a .187 average. The youngster touts two saves to lead the team and rank seventh in the SoCon. After the UNF game, Wicker no longer has enough innings to qualify for the league leaderboard in his average stats. However, they qualified entering that contest, and those ranking reveal just how well he is stacking up to the rest of the conference. His ERA was the best in the conference and 25th nationally, and his 0.86 WHIP also topped the league and ranked 11th in the country. Wicker's 1.78 walks per nine clip was third in the conference, and his 4.17 K/BB ratio was sixth. He also led the league with a hits per nine clip of 5.93, 40th nationally.
