Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, I am excited to share an update on Wofford Athletics and outline an important initiative that will guide us toward an even brighter future.
Â
We are officially beginning the strategic vision process for Wofford Athletics. This effort will focus on setting clear goals and measurable outcomes to ensure that we remain a leader both in competition and in shaping the lives of our student-athletes. While athletic programs traditionally have a scoreboard to measure success, we believe that as administrators, we too should have a "scoreboard" to track our progress through both qualitative and quantitative data.
Â
Our successes from the past year provide a strong foundation to build upon:
•
The Terrier Club achieved $3.6 million in donations, marking an incredible 34% increase over last year. The number of Terrier Club donors rose 20% as well.
•
Ticket revenue has risen by over 25% and continues to grow with the success of basketball. Women's basketball ticket revenue has nearly doubled over last season.
•
Social media engagement is up an impressive 86% year over year, reflecting the energy and enthusiasm surrounding Wofford Athletics.
•
Sponsorship sales have seen an increase of 30% year over year.
Â
These milestones would not have been possible without your unwavering support. Whether through your time, talent, or treasure, your contributions fuel our ability to compete at the highest levels and provide a transformative experience for our student-athletes.
Â
As we move forward, we are committed to maintaining this momentum and setting new benchmarks for excellence. Your continued involvement will be key to our success, and we look forward to sharing more about our strategic vision as it unfolds.
Â
Thank you for being an integral part of the Terrier family. Together, we look ahead to a great year filled with growth, achievement, and Terrier pride!

NEW TRAINING FACILITY
A new rotational sport training facility is being developed for baseball, softball, men's golf, and women's golf. Utilizing an area in Richardson Hall near the locker rooms for all four sports, the space will feature state-of-the-art rotational equipment including a Keiser Functional Trainer. This project is funded completely by donor gifts from the four programs and will be in place in February.

BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL SEASONS
We are really looking forward to the upcoming baseball and softball seasons which begin in February. The baseball team is the defending Southern Conference Champion, while softball looks to build on the momentum in season two of the program. The softball team will be the host of the 2025 Southern Conference Tournament in May. New branding has been installed in the dugouts for both programs. We also will be hanging updated banners in the baseball outfield to recognize their accomplishments last season.
Â
FOOTBALL COACHING CHANGES
Head coach Shawn Watson has promoted Mitch Doolittle to co-defensive coordinator, where he will work alongside Jonathan Saxon on a defense that was ranked as one of the best in the Southern Conference last season. Doolittle will also shift position group oversight to the inside linebackers following the departure of Andrew Warwick for a role at West Virginia. An additional hire will be made in the upcoming weeks following the February signing date.Â
Â
MEN'S SOCCER UPDATE
We have begun the search for a new men's soccer head coach, following the departure of Joel Tyson to North Carolina State as associate head coach. Tyson spent six seasons as head coach at Wofford and posted winning records the past two seasons. We wish him well and will look to fill the position quickly.
Â
MEN'S BASKETBALL PREGAME HOSPITALITY
Collegiate Circle members of the Terrier Club who are men's basketball season ticket holders will have the exclusive opportunity to purchase pregame hospitality access in the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium before Saturday Southern Conference games. This began last week against Mercer and will continue for three games in February. Stay tuned for more details!
Â
NCAA FCS CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS TO NASHVILLE
The city of Nashville, Tennessee, was awarded the 2026 and 2027 Division I Football Championship games. The games, which will be co-hosted by the Ohio Valley Conference and the Nashville Sports Council, will be played at FirstBank Stadium on the campus of Vanderbilt. Nashville becomes the 11th city to host the Football Championship Subdivision championship game since 1978. It will be the first time the game has been played in Tennessee since Chattanooga hosted from 1997 to 2009. The location of the game beyond 2027 will be determined in a future bid cycle.
