Softball Signs Nine Newcomers

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford softball head coach Chelsea Butler announced the signing of nine new student-athletes to athletic aid agreements or letters of commitment with Wofford College. The group of nine will be joining the team in the fall of 2026.
 
"I could not be more thrilled to welcome these nine young women into the Wofford softball family," said head coach Chelsea Butler. "This group comes from outstanding organizations and has been coached by talented individuals who held them to the highest standards. They are incredible athletes and even better people. They will represent Wofford with pride and integrity on the field, in the classroom and in our community. I am confident they will be a cornerstone of our success for the next four years and impact Wofford softball well beyond their time on campus."

Averi Coggins, a utility player out of Candler, North Carolina, was named the Western North Carolina Player of the Year in 2025. The Enka High School product has posted a .584 batting average for her career, including .687 during her junior season. Coggins was named the District 8 and 3A State Player of the Year in 2025. Her father played baseball at both Gardner-Webb and UNC Asheville. 
 
A four-year letterwinner out of Hebron Christian Academy, Brittyn Sissom has had a .427 batting average for her career. The catcher has totaled 12 home runs, 144 hits, and 108 RBI. She was named the 8AA Player of the Year in 2022 and was a SAAA First Team All-Region selection as well. Sissom was selected as the 8AA Defensive Player of the Year in 2025. She also helped lead her team to three-straight state championship appearances.
 
Cailin Rendell, a product of Eastern View High School in Culpeper, Virginia, has posted a 1.53 ERA throughout her high school career. The right-handed pitcher has totaled 526 strikeouts in 251.1 innings pitched and has only allowed an opponent batting average of .138. Rendell was named the Battlefield District Player of the Year in 2025. On top of that accolade, Rendell was a First Team All-District, First Team All-Region, and Second Team All-State pitcher. She helped lead her team to a district co-championship in 2024 as well. Rendell's father played football at Hobart College.
 
A product of Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, South Carolina, Frances Laughlin has posted a career batting average of .638. The shortstop was named All-Region two times and participated in the All-State game in back-to-back years. Laughlin led her team to a fifth-place finish in the state tournament last season. Her dad is a former baseball player at Wofford, and her brother, Austin, is a current member of the baseball team. Laughlin's grandfather played football and golf at Tennessee.
 
Karsyn Sigmon, a native of Newton, North Carolina, posted a 0.51 ERA at Fred T. Foard High School last season. The right-handed pitcher was a three-time All-Conference and All-State selection and has been named the Conference Pitcher of the Year in back-to-back seasons. She helped lead her team to a conference championship as well. Hailing from an athletic family, Sigmon's father played baseball at Appalachian State while her uncle competed at Western Carolina.
 
An Orchard Park, New York, native, Lainey Babich is an outfielder for Orchard Park High School. This past season, Babich hit .506, had 23 stolen bases, 21 RBI, and four homeruns. She was a First Team All-State selection, WNY Player of the Year, and helped guide her team to a state championship during her junior season. Her parents both played sports at North Dakota State, and her father, Bobby, is currently the Defensive Coordinator for the Buffalo Bills.
 
Maddie Coward, who is from Latta, South Carolina, has posted 632 career strikeouts at Pee Dee Academy. The left-handed pitcher is a four-time North South All Star, four-time All-Region selection, and has won Player of the Year twice. Coward has led her team to back-to-back state championships and four region championships.
 
A Hartsville, South Carolina, native, Myah Harvey has totaled a .449 batting average throughout her high school career. A middle infielder, Harvey has also recorded 132 hits, 87 RBI, and 133 runs in her tenure at Hartsville High School. She is a two-time All-State and First Team All-Region selection. Harvey was named the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year and led her team to three-straight playoff appearances. Her mother played softball at North Greenville University.
 
Satcher Felts, who is from Georgetown, South Carolina, hit .430 last season at Georgetown High School. Felts also totaled 30 hits, five homeruns, 19 RBI, and 36 runs during her junior campaign. She is a back-to-back All-Region selection and helped guide her team to the third round of the state playoffs the last three seasons. Her mother played both basketball and softball at Newberry College, and she is in the Newberry Hall of Fame for both sports.
 
The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to Wofford College and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
