Wofford Men’s Soccer Receives Four SoCon Postseason Awards

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its all-conference awards ahead of the SoCon Tournament. Kalle Rahbek was selected for all-conference first team. Nathan Simes and Jakob Andersson notched second-team honors in their final campaigns. Samuel Byron was tabbed for the all-freshman team. All voting is done by the conference's coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Sophomore midfielder, Kalle Rahbek, adds his second all-conference team selection to his resume after being featured on the all-freshman team last season. The Denmark native started all 17 games for the Terriers, amassing 1406 minutes. He led the team in assists, dishing out six. He also provided four goals, including one game-winning goal. Rahbek joins a short list of five other Terriers that were members of the all-freshman team and then featured on the All-SoCon first team the following year.

Nathan Simes and Jakob Andersson have been named to the All-SoCon second team. Senior forward, Simes, has been the focal point of the Terrier offense this season, leading Wofford in shots (45), shots on goal (27), shot percentage (.600) and goals (8). He led SoCon, and was ranked seventh nationally, in shot percentage. His 21 points were third-most in the conference while his eight goals were tied for second-most. Senior defender, Andersson, was named in the All-SoCon preseason team and earned his fourth consecutive all-conference team honor.  He is the second Terrier to achieve this, Matthew Aurednik earned one first-team and three second-team honors as well. The Sweden native started all but one game this season, contributing four assists, tying the Wofford DI career assist mark (21), set by Billy Padula.

Freshman forward, Samuel Byron, was tabbed for the SoCon All-Freshman team. The Tennessee native was featured in all 17 games, starting 14. He racked up two goals and three assists, totaling seven points in 1098 minutes of play. The forward was tied for the second-most points among freshmen in the conference. Fellow teammates, Kalle Rahbek, Fabian Menendez and Jakob Andersson, have all been featured on the team in years past.

The Terriers travel to Greenville, South Carolina, on Friday, November 7, to take on the No. 4 seed ETSU Buccaneers at 4 p.m. in the SoCon Tournament Quarterfinals. If Wofford wins, they will face the No. 1 seed Furman Paladins on Sunday, November 9. All action is available for streaming on ESPN+.
