SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After a stellar performance over Union Commonwealth, Wofford Terriers men's basketball freshman guard,
Jayden Tyler, has been awarded the Southern Conference Player of the Week as the league office announced the award on Monday afternoon.
Jayden Tyler lifted the Terriers to a dominant display to close out the non-conference schedule Sunday afternoon. In 16 minutes, he was able to score a team-high of 24 points, scoring 10 more than the next Terrier. He went 7-8 from the field and 5-6 from behind the arc. The Chicago, Illinois, native added five more points from the line, only missing one of his six attempts.
For the season, the Chicago, Illinois native has appeared in seven games, scoring double digits on two occasions. He is averaging 6.4 points per game while picking up five assists, two blocks, and four steals. The guard is shooting 13-24 (.542) from the field and 11-17 (.647) from three, the highest percentage on the team.
Tyler is the first Terrier to win SoCon player of the week this season. He becomes the 34th Terrier to receive the honor since joining the Southern Conference in 1997. The last Terrier to win the award was
Kyler Filewich on January 13, 2025. The last freshman to win the award for Wofford was Jackson Paveletzke on December 26, 2022.
The Terriers (8-5) open conference play with a road trip to Cullowhee, North Carolina, on December 31. Wofford will face Western Carolina at 1 p.m. in the Ramsey Center. All action is available to stream on ESPN+ or listen along on the Wofford Digital Network.
