SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College baseball team opens the 2025 campaign this weekend at home against Ohio University. Forecasted inclement weather has forced schedule changes to the opening slate of games. Friday will now feature a doubleheader between the teams starting at 3:30 p.m. The weather will be monitored for Saturday and Sunday, and updates will be released as available on the conclusion of the series.
Â
The three-game set was originally scheduled for one game on Friday at 5:30 p.m. with one game each day following on Saturday and Sunday. The forecast has necessitated the change for an opening twin bill tomorrow.

SERIES PREVIEW VS. OHIO
Wofford is coming off its most successful season in program history. The Terriers claimed the 2024 Southern Conference Tournament championship and were selected to the Chapel Hill Regional. With a victory over LIU in game two, Wofford secured its first-ever NCAA Tournament win in program history. The Terriers now enter the 2025 season looking to further build on a historic campaign. Wofford opens the season at home for the 17th time in the last 19 seasons. Ohio comes to Spartanburg for the opening weekend of play, marking the first meeting between the schools since 2019. Wofford holds the all-time series lead 5-2 and took two-of-three back in 2019 when that series also opened the season at Russell C. King Field. The Friday doubleheader will mark the first opening day doubleheader for the Terriers in almost 20 years. Wofford's last season-opening doubleheader was in 2008 when the Terriers opened with a pair of home wins over St. Peter's on February 23.

SEASON PROMOTIONS
As you attend games at Russell C. King Field during the 2025 season, be on the lookout for several season-long promotions. Kids run the bases after every Sunday game. Children wishing to run should gather at the marketing table after the eighth inning to take part each Sunday. New this season are Double Bubble Double Plays! Every time the Terriers turn a double play, be on the lookout for a Double Bubble gum toss between innings. Youth baseball teams interested in joining the Terriers on the field for pregame introductions and the national anthem should contact
Addison Harvey (

PRESEASON HONORS
In the Southern Conference's preseason balloting, the Terriers were predicted to finish third by the league's eight coaches. Wofford earned one first-place vote to slot into third behind only UNCG (first) and Samford (second). Eight Terriers were honored between the two Preseason All-SoCon Teams, the most of any school in the conference. A trio placed on the first team:
Kenny Michaels,
David Wiley, and
Andrew Mannelly. Five highlighted the second team:
Dylan Rhadans,
Alec Bouchard,
Champ Davis,
Lucas Manning, and
Tyler Hare.
Â
WELCOME TO SPARTANBURG
The Wofford roster is ripe with new faces this season as the Terriers welcome 27 newcomers to town. This includes 20 freshmen and seven transfers. The rookie group is comprised of 10 pitchers (one left-hander), two catchers, five infielders, and three outfielders. The seven incoming transfers are OF
Niko Brini (UConn), LHP
Sheldon Egger (Edmonds College), C
Raul Feliz (Indian River State), INF/OF
Hunter Herndon (Sewanee), LHP
Charlie Horne (Birmingham-Southern), INF
Drew Loikits (Central Michigan), and RHP
Carter Rasmussen (Brown).
Â
TRIPLE THREAT
The Terriers hit triples with ease last season, posting 33 three-baggers to top the nation, one ahead of the next-closest squad (Northern Kentucky, 32). Those 33 triples are a program record for a season, topping the previous mark of 22 set twice prior in 1985 and 2016. Individually, 10 Terriers had a triple with five boasting at least three triples.
Marshall Toole touted the most with 10, most in the SoCon and second in the country.
Dixon Black added five for third in the league and 19th nationally, and
Brice Martinez boasted four at fourth in the conference. Toole's total is a new single-season program record, besting Mac Doyle's seven from 2011. The Terriers had so many triples that if Toole's 10 were removed from the team's total, the new mark of 23 would still have led the SoCon, three above UNCG's 20, and the Terriers would still have clocked in at eighth nationally.
Â
ON DECK
Wofford remains at home for the next five games. Up next, the Terriers will play their first midweek contest of the season by hosting Charlotte on Tuesday, February 18, at 5:30 p.m. Army West Point will then come to town for a three-game set at Russell C. King Field.
