Men’s Basketball Prepares for No. 2 Tennessee in Lexington

LEXINGTON, KY. – The No. 15 seed Wofford men's basketball team arrived in Lexington, Kentucky, on Tuesday evening for the NCAA Tournament. The Terriers will take on No. 2 seed Tennessee on Thursday, March 20, at 6:50 p.m. on TNT in the first round of the tournament.

Wofford earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after taking down Furman 92-85 in the SoCon Championship last Monday. The Terriers finished with a 19-15 overall record and won 10 games in conference action. Tennessee was seeded No. 2 after going 27-7 overall and losing in the SEC Championship.

Following a thirty-minute period of interviews with media on Wednesday, the Terriers practiced on the floor of Rupp Arena for the NCAA-allowed 40 minutes. The team took part in a second walk-through prior to arriving at Rupp Arena Wednesday morning.

"We are really excited to be here," said head coach Dwight Perry. "We are excited to be able to play in a great venue that is Rupp Arena. I know our guys are excited to be representing the SoCon and Wofford College. Anytime you get a chance to be part of a great event like the NCAA Tournament, that's truly a blessing."

"I think it's just crazy," said Jackson Sivills on his return to Rupp Arena. "It took me a little while to get over not being able to finish my season here during my senior year of high school. But it's crazy how life works in mysterious ways, and now I'm back. I'm just blessed to be here with these two guys and the rest of my teammates, and it's a dream come true and a blessing for sure."

"Go out with confidence," said Kyler Filewich on the matchup with No. 2 Tennessee. "We have a chip on our shoulder, being the lower seed, but we know what we're capable of. It's a phenomenal team over there, but we have to come out and not think about that - do our job, play hard, play together and play tough."

"Everyone at this level is in great shape," said Corey Tripp. "We did play them [Tennessee] last year, and we can take a few things from that. They're a different team. I know we're going to come out there and play hard regardless of what the circumstances are."
