Three Terriers Earn All-Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Postseason Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced the results of its postseason awards voted on by the conference's head coaches today. Three Terriers received recognition with Corey Tripp, Kyler Filewich, and Justin Bailey honored. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their players.
 
"I'm really proud of Corey, Kyler, and Justin," said head coach Dwight Perry. "I'm glad to see that the hard work each of those guys put in was rewarded. The play that Corey, Kyler, and Justin demonstrated this year is a reflection of hard work and togetherness – not only by those three guys but our whole team. We're excited that they were acknowledged for their contributions to the program, and we're looking forward to seeing them get better in the rest of their basketball journey."
 
Corey Tripp, a senior guard out of Medina, Ohio, was named to the All-SoCon Second Team for the second year in a row. Tripp is averaging a team-high 14.3 points per game, 3.9 rebounds, and has dished out 92 assists so far this season. He scored a career-high 31 points and hit six three-pointers against ETSU this year. Tripp eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career in a 16-point outing against UNCG.
 
Kyler Filewich, a senior center from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was named to the All-SoCon Third Team after leading the league with 9.5 rebounds per game. Filewich is also averaging a career-high 11.8 points per contest on 57.1 percent shooting. He boasts a team-high 97 assists and a 1.94 assist/turnover ratio, which is second in the conference. Filewich has set single-season program records during the Division I era with 294 rebounds and 11 double-doubles. He was named SoCon Player of the Week after scoring 16 points, grabbing 18 rebounds, and dishing out six assists in a win over Western Carolina.
 
Justin Bailey, a junior guard from Taylors, South Carolina, was selected to the SoCon All-Defensive Team. Bailey totaled a team-high 39 steals and recorded 20 during conference play. He notched three steals against UNCG and held the team's leading scorer to six points on 3-of-11 shooting. Bailed recorded 10 games with multiple steals, including a career-high five swipers in the season opener.
 
The Terriers will be back in action on Saturday, March 8, as the team will play in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament in Asheville, North Carolina. Wofford is the No. 6 seed and will take on No. 3 ETSU at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN+
