SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced today its selections for volleyball players of the week with Wofford middle blocker Annemarie Rakoski taking home the defensive nod. The selections are made by the league office.
 
This is Rakoski's second player of the week nod in her career. She is the first Terrier to garner a SoCon weekly honor since she also claimed the defensive crown during the final week of last season.
 
A senior from Atlanta, Georgia, Rakoski amassed 11 blocks over Wofford's two matches last week in the Tennessee Invitational. She averaged 1.57 blocks per set over seven total sets of play. Against host Tennessee, Rakoski recorded seven blocks as a season high for a Terrier this season. She was even with the most for any player in the match, tying the Lady Vols' top blocker in the contest. The following morning, she posted four more denials as Wofford claimed its first triumph of the campaign against Winthrop.
 
On the season, Rakoski owns 22 total blocks at a rate of 1.38 per set. She has notched at least four blocks in every match but one this year. Rakoski currently leads the SoCon in blocks per set and ranks 55^th in the NCAA.
 
The Terriers return to action this weekend with three matches in four days, beginning with the home opener on Friday, September 12, against Elon. The match will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
