United Soccer Coaches Presents Ralph Polson with 2026 Honor Award

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- On Thursday, September 24th, Wofford men's soccer team alumnus Nick Schuermann '10 was inducted into the York County Soccer Hall of Fame as a member of its 2026 induction class. Schuermann was honored for his illustrious high school and college playing career, as well as his contributions to the growth and success of soccer in York County and beyond.

Schuermann played defender for Wofford from 2006-2009 and was a three-year captain who started every match of his career as a Terrier. In his 2009 season, Schuermann earned Third-Team All-American honors and was named to the All-Southern Conference, NSCAA All-South, and Scholar All-South First Teams. He scored the ninth hat trick in school history, led a defense that allowed 0.95 goals per game, and helped lead the Terriers to a Southern Conference Championship. He was inducted into the Wofford College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015.

Schuermann was also a legendary high school player for Fort Mill High School, where he played for four years and was a captain for three. He was named to all-state and all-region teams on several occasions during his time there. After he graduated from Wofford, he returned to Fort Mill as a coach for the State Championship program.
