SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford softball team closed the Wofford Invitational with a 4-0 record after a 3-1 win against UMBC and a 6-3 win against St. Bonaventure on Saturday. The Terriers improve to 8-1 on the season, as the team continues to get off to its best start in program history.

"A 4-0 weekend is great," said head coach
Chelsea Butler. "Our pitching this weekend was more characteristic to what we usually are. Team Three is something special, and I hope you guys will join us for the ride."

GAME ONE
Natalya Salo got the start in the 3-1 win against UMBC to open Saturday's action. Salo pitched three innings while giving up one run on two hits. She registered two strikeouts.
Abby Greenwood earned her fourth win of the season, moving her record to 4-0. Greenwood pitched four shutout innings and only allowed two hits.
Kaytlin Greenwood led the offensive attack, going 2-of-3 with a home run to left field.
Kate Platte recorded the last RBI in the game.
Lauren Archambault also added two hits.

Kaytlin Greenwood started the scoring off for both teams, sending her second career home run down the left field line. Greenwood drove in
Desirae Devine with the homer, putting Wofford up 2-0.

Lauren Archambault. UMBC scored its only run of the game in the third inning, shortening the Wofford lead to 3-1. Neither team would score from there, as Wofford would earn a 3-1 victory.

GAME TWO
Margaret Axelson got the nod in game two, pitching a full seven inning contest against St. Bonaventure. Axelson only allowed two earned runs while striking out five batters. With the win Axelson improves to 3-0 on the year.
Lauren Archambault had a team-high two RBI in the win after going 2-of-2 with a run scored and a double.
Kate Platte,
Rivers Sampson, and
Desirae Devine each tallied an RBI as well. Devine went a perfect 3-of-3 from the plate with two runs scored and three stolen bases. Sampson also recorded two hits.

Desirae Devine kicked off the scoring for Wofford with an RBI single up the middle in the second inning.
Lauren Archambault followed that up with squeeze bunt to score Devine, as Wofford led 2-0 at the end of the second inning. St. Bonaventure grabbed a run in the top of the third, but Wofford answered with three runs in the bottom half of the frame. Once again Archambault scored Devine off a sacrifice fly. After a

Rivers Sampson drove Greenwood in with a single up the middle.
Kate Platte wrapped up the inning with an RBI double to put Wofford up 6-1. The Bonnies scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh, but Wofford was able to hold on for a 6-3 win.

Due to forecast inclement weather, all games of the Wofford Invitational on Sunday have been cancelled. The Terriers will travel to Presbyterian College for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, February 18, before co-hosting the Sparkle City Invite with USC Upstate on February 20-22.
