Women's Golf Finishes in Sixth Place at Low Country Invitational

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team finished in sixth place overall at the Low Country Invitational and Bella Kent clinched her third top ten finish of the season. The Terriers hosted at the par-72 Golf Club at Indigo Run starting on Monday, March 9 playing 36 holes and finishing on Tuesday, March 10 playing 18 holes. Kent finished tied for ninth place with a score of 226 10-over par. Wofford also saw two top 20 finishes in Lilli Horn, finishing tied in 12th place and Grace Lindsey as an individual, finishing tied for 15th, a new career best. The Terriers competed as a team along with three individuals during the tournament.

The Terriers started day one after two rounds with scores of 307 and 308. Wofford came back to finish the last round with a 313 to finish sixth out of 15 teams in the field. Big South member UNC Asheville came out on top with a team score of 901 to clinch first place. UNC Asheville's Caroline Patterson took first place in the player field, ending with a 217 one-over score. The Terriers ended tied for fifth with the most par 3s with a 3.40 average and tied for third in par 4s with a 4.33 average. Wofford ended with the third most pars with 157.

Bella Kent led the Terriers with her third top ten finish of the season, starting day one with a 75 and a 76. Kent ended the final day with a 75 to clinch her ninth-place finish. Kent finished with the ninth-best par 3 average at 3.25. Lilli Horn followed one stroke behind Kent with a 227 11-over score. Horn started day one with 75 in round one and two, Horn would card a 77 to finish the Low Country in 12th. This was Horn's second top 20 finish of the season.

Sofia Pedrero ended the tournament tied for 41st place with a 241 25-over score. Pedrero started day one carding an 80 and an 81 in the second round. Pedrero would finish with an 80. Delaney Wade and Valeria Melo followed one stroke behind of Pedrero to card a 242 26-over score to finish tied for 45th. Wade started day one of play with a 79 in round one and two, before carding an 84. Melo started day one with 77 in round one before carding a 79 to end round two. Melo would finish to card an 86.

Freshman Grace Lindsey led the way for the individuals during the tournament to finish with a 230 to place tied for 15th to claim a career best finish. Lindsey started day one with a solid 76 before carding a 78 to end round two. Lindsey would finish with a 76 to clinch her first top 20 finish. Lindsey finished the tournament with the ninth best par 5 average in an even 5.00. Elle Webber would place tied for 54th with a 246. Webber carded 83-84-79 to finish the tournament. Anna Ahonen would round it out for the Terriers, finishing tied for 58th with a 247. Ahonen would card an 83-81-83 to end play in Hilton Head.

The Terriers will return to action at the Bermuda Triangle Collegiate in South Hampton, Bermuda, starting on March 30.
