MACON, Ga. – The Wofford College softball team defeated the Mercer Bears 11-4 in game one but lost 9-8 in game two to split the doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Macon, Georgia. The Terriers are now 24-7 with a 3-2 mark in conference play.

GAME ONE
Abby Greenwood got the start in the 11-4 win, tossing a full seven inning slate to improve to 10-1 on the season. Greenwood has now surpassed her total of nine wins from the 2025 season. She allowed four runs on four hits while striking out three batters. Wofford totaled three homers in the first game of the day. Brianna Stanley led the team with three RBIs after a three-run shot in the first inning. Lauren Archambault and Rivers Sampson each had two RBIs after their respective homers, while Lucy Cameron tallied two RBIs as well. Archambault went 2-of-3 from the plate and added two runs scored. Desirae Devine also went 2-of-3 during the game. Kalli Petty led the team with one stolen base.

Kate Platte started the first inning with a single up the middle, Addison Lucier doubled, and Rivers Sampson was walked as the team loaded the bases to begin the game. After a wild pitch, Platte would score to put Wofford up 1-0. Brianna Stanley followed that up with a three-run shot to center field, scoring Lucier and Sampson. Kalli Petty reached on an error after that. She would later score from a Desirae Devine RBI single to give Wofford a 5-0 lead at the end of the inning. Both teams were scoreless from there until the bottom of the third inning, as Mercer was able to score three runs to shorten the deficit to 5-3.

The Terriers answered, however, adding two more runs in the top of the fourth. Kaytlin Greenwood started the inning off with a bunt to get on first. A few batters later, Lauren Archambault would hit her first career home run to right center to put Wofford up 7-3. The Bears added one more run in the bottom half of the frame, but the Terriers once again responded. Addison Lucier was walked to begin the fifth inning, and Rivers Sampson sent a ball to the top of the scoreboard for her first homer of the season. The Terriers would lead 9-4 after the two-run shot. After a scoreless fifth inning for Mercer, Wofford scored its final two runs of the game in the sixth. The team was able to load the bases once again to start the inning, leading to a Lucy Cameron double that scored two runs. The team would keep Mercer without another run in the final two innings, giving Wofford an 11-4 win in game one.

GAME TWO

With Wofford trailing 5-2 in the fifth inning, Brianna Stanley delivered a two-run shot to get the team within one. After Gracie Parker, Desirae Devine, and Lucy Parker loaded the bases, Lauren Archambault would be walked to score Parker and tie the game at five-all. After a scoreless fifth inning for Mercer, Wofford had another three-run inning in the sixth to give the team an 8-5 lead.
