SPARTANBURG, S.C. –The Southern Conference office announced its weekly pitcher and player of the week honors for games played from April 27 to May 3 on Monday afternoon. Wofford junior right-handed pitcher
Alec Bouchard grabbed his second pitcher of the week honors this season, with Mercer's outfielder Chris Katz earning the player of the week honors. The selections are made by the league office.
"The biggest thing about Alec is his consistency in work ethic on and off the field," associate head coach
Pat Brown said. "That's why you see him become more consistent year after year, outing after outing. Everything worked for him this weekend; he settled in early and didn't let up. We're happy to see him get recognized once again for his great work."
This is the second pitcher of the week honor and third overall weekly honor for the Terriers this season. Bouchard earned his first pitcher of the week honor on April 13, and
Ben Timblin was named player of the week on April 6.
The Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, native threw a complete nine-inning game for Wofford in their series opener win against Western Carolina. In his eighth win of the season, Bouchard threw a career-high 14 strikeouts. He is the first Terrier since Zac Cowan in 2024 to throw 14 strikeouts in a game and the first since
Kenny Michaels in 2025 to pitch a complete game. He broke his previous season-high set earlier this season with a 12-strikeout outing versus The Citadel on April 10, earning him his first weekly honors.
Bouchard leads the Southern Conference with 86 strikeouts, putting him 29
th in the nation. He is also third in the nation and second in the conference with a 1.68 ERA.
The Terriers have their final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, May 6, as they take on Gardner-Webb at John Henry Moss Stadium at 6 p.m. Wofford will return to King Field for their final homestand against ETSU, starting on Friday, May 8, with first pitch slated for 5:30 p.m., streaming on ESPN +.
