Terrier volleyball falls 3-0 at Georgia Southern

Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford volleyball fell 3-0 on the road in Southern Conference action Sunday afternoon. The Eagles dominated the match in Hanner Fieldhouse scoring a 30-13, 30-18, 30-27 victory.
Georgia Southern (8-16, 5-7 SoCon) freshman Jen Abbott paced the match with a hitting percentage of .667. Other top performers for the Eagles was from junior Christy Dowd with six kills and 26 total attacks, while freshman Michelle Vzoh added a .455 hitting percentage from 11 kills, one error and 22 total attacks. Junior Mae Chabra collected a match high 39 assists.

For the Georgia Southern defense three Eagles accumulated double digit digs. Senior Bailey Coleman led the match with 15 digs, while freshman Marissa Odom recorded 12 and Dowd completed the match with 11.

Freshman Caitlyn Horton paced the Terriers (9-15, 2-9 SoCon) with a .400 hitting percentage. Classmates Stacy Byrd also collected five kills and 28 total attacks, while Catelyn Amende finished with three kills and 20 total attacks. Sophomore Joanna Suddath registered 26 of Wofford’s 29 assists.

Freshman Sarah Palmer collected a team best 12 digs, followed by sophomore Shanna Hughes who finished the match with 11 digs.

Wofford will head back on the road Wednesday for more Southern Conference competition against Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C. for a 7 p.m. match.
