SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Wofford sophomore Nikki Siebert tallied her first goal of the season, and second of her career, to lift the Terriers to a 2-1 double-overtime triumph over Presbyterian during opening day action of the Academy Sports Shootout at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, S.C.

Siebert, a Naperville, Ill., native corralled a loose ball on the right side of the six-yard box and buried it high into the netting behind Blue Hose goalkeeper Abby Young for the game winner at 100:48. Freshman Anne Breeden was credited with the assist on the play.

Presbyterian (1-4) started by scoring the match's opening tally, at 13:38, when Lytle Cannon created her own shot after sidestepping a Terrier defender and fired her shot home from 25 yards out past Wofford goalkeeper Katie McChesney.

The Terriers, after trailing by one at the half, switched their game plan and came out in the second 45 minutes playing a more aggressive attack. Freshman Maggie McLaughlin tallied the equalizer at 47:14 after a long through ball from junior Monica Ploetzke. McLaughlin took the pass and dribbled 15 yards before sliding the ball underneath a charging Young.

Both teams held much of the possession in the middle of the field and the contest ended with a 14-14 deadlock on shots. Ploetzke and McLaughlin paced Wofford (1-3-2) with three shots apiece, while Tricia Bryan topped Presbyterian with a game-high seven attempts.

In earlier action Friday at the Academy Sports Shootout, Kennesaw State scored three times off corner kicks to defeat Furman, 3-1. Caroline Austin for the Owls assisted on all three goals after sending in passes from the corner flag.

Academy Sports Shootout play will conclude with two more matches Sunday. Presbyterian and Furman will kick-off at 2 p.m. followed by Wofford and Kennesaw State at 4 p.m. at Snyder Field.
