FLORENCE, S.C. -- The Wofford men's golf team lowered its score by two strokes each round and finished with a 24-over par 888 at the season-opening Raines Development Group Intercollegiate at The Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C., Tuesday.

The Terriers shot a 298-296-294--888 (+24) to match fellow Southern Conference member Western Carolina for 11th in the 18-team field. SoCon foe Georgia Southern captured the team title with a 22-under par 242.

Senior Drew Perry paced Wofford with a 29th-place tying 76-74-69--219 (+3). His 69 during Tuesday's final round was the only sub-70 effort during the event for the Terriers.

Junior Garrett Medeiros was the next Wofford player in the clubhouse with a 73-70-78--221 (+5) to tie for 41st.

Classmate Mike McKenzie tied for 61st after carding a 75-76-75--226 (+10), equaling the effort's of Brent Whitehead. Whitehead, who was participating in his first collegiate event, tallied a 74-80-72--226 (+10).

Rounding out the Terrier contingent and also playing in his first collegiate tournament was Ben Wright. He fired a 76-76-79--231 (+15) to tie for 78th.

William & Mary's Brent Paladino captured medalist honors with a 14-under par 70-66-66--202.

Wofford will next compete later this week, Friday-Sunday, at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate at the Sea Trail Resort in Sunset Beach, N.C.
