NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A second half goal was the only mark of the day as host Lipscomb defeated visiting Wofford, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action in Nashville, Tenn.
The host Bisons tallied their lone score at 69:02 when Angel Chairez converted a free kick attempt past Terrier goalkeeper
Joey Taylor.
The game was very physical and featured 31 fouls, including a red card to a Lipscomb (4-5) player in the 49th minute requiring the Bisons to play the final 42 minutes with 10 players.
Wofford (4-6), however, could not find the back of the net on any of its eight shots, which included a team-high three from sophomore
Wilson Hood.
The Bisons maintained offensive pressure through both halves and finished with a 21-8 shot advantage. Chairez paced Lipscomb with a game-best four attempts, including his goal.
Taylor and Bisons' goalkeeper Patrick Walsh each finished with four saves.
Wofford will return to action at 6 p.m. Saturday when it welcomes Appalachian State to Snyder Field for the Southern Conference home opener.
