HARRISONBURG, Va. -- A first half penalty kick was the only mark on the scoreboard for either team as the Wofford men's soccer team fell, 1-0, to host James Madison Sunday afternoon at the JMU/Comfort Inn Invitational in Harrisonburg, Va.
Despite outshooting the Dukes 15-12 for the game, the Terriers surrendered the game's only score at 6:36 when Nick Zimmerman lined up from the penalty spot and placed the ball behind Wofford (2-2) goalkeeper
Joey Taylor.
The Terriers kept pushing offensively and attacked for the last 15 minutes with nearly all the play controlled in the James Madison (2-2) half of the field in an attempt to find the equalizer.
Sophomore
Wilson Hood paced all players with five shots, including two on goal. Classmate
Armin Kinigadner also had two shots on goal.
Zimmerman led JMU with four shots, three of which were on goal, including his score.
Justin Epperson registered four saves in the shutout for the Dukes, while Taylor also recorded four stops in playing the full 90 minutes for Wofford.
The Terriers will return to action with a return trip to Virginia when they visit Lexington, Va., at 7 p.m. Friday to face former SoCon foe VMI.
