SUNSET BEACH, N.C. – Freshman Mark Joye led the Wofford men’s golf team to a second-place finish at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate, hosted by Elon University. Joye claimed the first individual tournament title of his collegiate career.
The Terriers finished second behind Stetson University with an 18-under par score of 846 (279-278-289) over three rounds.
Joye, a freshman from Columbia, S.C., secured the individual title with an 8-under par score of 208 (70-66-72). Senior Garrett Medeiros also finished in the top ten with a five-under par score of 211 (69-71-71) to finish tied for fifth place. Fellow senior Mike McKenzie also tied for fifth with a score of 211, carding scores of 72-68-71.
Sophomore Zach Capps finished in the top twenty with a final mark of 216, shooting even par for the tournament while scoring 68-73-75 over three rounds. Freshman Charles Moore finished the weekend with a score of 238 (75-79-84).
The Terriers will compete again October 12-13 at the Davidson College Invitational.
