BOONE, N.C. – The Wofford track and field teams competed at the 2010 Southern Conference Outdoor Championships. Sophomore Joe Bailey matched a school record in the high jump and junior Caitlin Dodd also set a school record in the 800 meter run. Five Terrier freshmen were named to the All-Freshman team for their respective events.

Dodd, who recorded a time of 2:25.25 in the 800 meter run to set a new school record, led the women’s team. Freshman Ashleigh Padgett earned All-Freshman team honors in the javelin with a throw of 27.55 meters. On Saturday, freshmen Shelby Harris and Andrea Kelsey were also named to the All-Freshman team for their events.

Harris recorded a time of 40:17.99 to finish eleventh in the 10,000 meter run, and Kelsey crossed the finish line with a time of 12:08.80 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase to earn All-Freshman honors.

On the men’s side, sophomore Joe Bailey matched his existing school record with a mark of 1.85 meters in the high jump.

Freshman Russell Baker earned All-Freshman team honors for his performance in the 5,000 meter run, and fellow freshman Brian McCracken was named to the All-Freshman team for both the shot put and the discus throws, with marks of 10.45 meters and 34.59 meters, respectively.

The Appalachian State men and Western Carolina women won the 2010 Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The title was the seventh for the Mountaineer men since 2000. The Catamount women claimed their sixth championship in program history and first since 2008.
