BOONE, N.C. -- The Wofford College men’s and women’s track and field team opened up their indoor season with Emily Gothberg breaking he school record in the 400m run and 13 top 20 finishes in the Appalachian Open at App State University.
Emily Gothberg broke her own school record in the 400m run with a time of 1:03.49 to finish in 19th place. She snapped her current time of 1:04.10.
Mackenzie DeGraff ran a 9.81 in the 55m hurdles. If was the first time a women’s track athlete had competed in the event for Wofford. She finished 19th.
Alyssa Burket ran a 5:31.74 in the mile run to finish in 11th. Nicole Klasnic finished in 17th place with a time of 5:43.69, and Carley Egan ran a 5:45.92 to finish in 19th with Kim Stauffer finishing with a 5:46.73 to finish in 20th.
Trey Parker ran a 4:41.77 to finish in 11th place on the men’s side in the mile run.
In the men’s 400m run, Chase West finished in ninth place with a time of 52.18.
Katie Kessler broke the Wofford school record and finished in third place with a time of 2:22.88 in the 800m. Caitlin Dodd finished in fourth place with a time of 2:28.98 to record a personal best, and Carolina Burdette took tenth with a 2:33.88 finish missing her personal best by less than three hundredths of a second.
Andrea Kelsey finished in 11th place with a time of 11:14.77 in the 3,000m run with Caroline Liddy taking 19th with a time of 11:53.64 in the race.
The Terriers will compete again at the Dick Taylor Carolina Classic on January 29 for their next indoor meet.
