Football Adds Two For 2011 Signing Class

SPARTANBURG, SC – Wofford College football coach Mike Ayers has announced the signing of Tarek Odom and Justin Blake to National Letters of Intent for the upcoming season. The Terriers have now signed 20 student-athletes for 2011, in addition to one transfer.

Odom is a 5-10, 265 pound defensive lineman from St. Augustine, Florida. He was named Florida Times-Union All-First Coast Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 and the St. Augustine Record St. Johns County Player of the Year. Odom earned All-Conference and All-County honors as a junior and senior.

During his senior season, St. Augustine High School posted a 13-1 record and advanced to the state semifinals. He recorded 99 tackles, 32 tackles for loss and eight sacks. At fullback, he rushed for 500 yards on 60 carries with twelve touchdowns. He won the 2010 state weightlifting championship and holds the school record in the bench at 410 pounds. Odom was named a Character Council Award winner at St. Augustine.

Blake is a 5-11, 180 pound safety from Piscataway, New Jersey. He played last season for Nassau Community College as the team posted an 11-0 record. At safety, he had 30 total tackles and had three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. He also had one fumble recovery that was returned 85 yards for a touchdown. Blake was named third team all-conference.

As a senior at Piscataway High School, Blake earned second team All-State honors in addition to first team all-conference and first team all-area recognition. The team was 11-1 and won the state championship in 2008. During his junior season he was first team all-conference and honorable mention all-state. He also lettered three season in basketball, winning the state championship his junior season. Blake will have three years of eligibility.

The Terriers will open the 2011 season on September 3 at Presbyterian College. Spring practice will begin for the Terriers on February 28 and end on March 23.

The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to Wofford College and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
