CHATTANOOGA, TENN. - The Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn., will serve as host of the 2011 Southern Conference Men’s and Women’s’ Tennis Championships this week (April 20-23). The four-day event features all 22 men’s and women’s teams from the Southern Conference.
The Wofford men’s tennis team finished the regular season with an 8-12 overall record and a 4-6 standing in the Southern Conference. With the four conference wins, the Terriers will enter this week’s tournament as a No. 7 seed. Wofford will play the first round against the No. 10 seed, Davidson. The match is set to start tomorrow (4/20) at 2:00 p.m. The winner of the first round match will move on to play the No. 2 seed College of Charleston in the second round. The second round match is scheduled for Thursday, April 21st at 3:00 p.m.
The Wofford women’s tennis team finished the regular season with a 10-14 overall record and a 2-8 standing in the Southern Conference. The women’s team will enter this week’s tournament as the No. 9 seed. The Terriers will be facing the No. 10 seed, Appalachian State, in the first round. The match is scheduled to start tomorrow (4/20) at 10:00 a.m. The winner of the first round match will move on to play the No. 1 seed College of Charleston in the second round. The second round match will take place Thursday, April 21st at 8:30 a.m.
