In the first half each team generated several good chances.  Wofford nearly took the lead in the 26th minute when Alex Hutchins fire a shot from just outside the 18 yard box that sailed over the crossbar.  In the 40th minute, South Carolina threatened with a shot by Ryan Arambula but Andrew Drennan was there to make the leaping save to keep the game tied 0-0.  However, this changed in the 43rd minute when Jeffrey Torda assisted on Hunter Wyer's second goal of the season.  Torda sent a cross to the far post that Wyer was able to head past Drennan to give the Gamecocks a 1-0 lead.  At the break, the Terriers held the edge in shots (9-8), but South Carolina had a 3-0 advantage on corner kicks taken and led 1-0.

The Gamecocks doubled their lead one minute into the second half when Trent Rieflin sent a low cross into the box that Torda was able to slip past Drennan into the bottom left corner of the net.  Wofford got a goal back in the 52nd minute when Alex Hutchins was able to head home Nestor Jaramillo’s corner to make the score 2-1 in favor of South Carolina.  The assist was Jaramillo’s third of the season.  Wofford was awarded a penalty kick in the 59th minute after a Gamecock defender was called for a handball in the box after a Terrier corner.  Alex Hutchins buried the kick into the bottom right corner of the net to tie the game at 2-2.  The goals were Hutchins' ninth and tenth of the season.  Regulation ended with the teams tied at two.  In the second half, the Terriers outshot the Gamecocks (14-7) and held the edge in corners (6-1).

In overtime, Wofford  tested the South Carolina defense several times before finally breaking through in the 95th minute to score the game-winner.  Nestor Jaramillo sent a corner to the near post and Carlos Dominguez Gonzalez was able to head it past Gamecock goalie Alex Long and into the far corner.  The goal was Dominguez Gonzalez’s fourth of the season and marks the third time in four games that Wofford has won with a goal in overtime.
