CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Four personal best and one school record headline the men’s and women’s track and field team’s performance at the Kent Taylor Invitational on the campus of the University of North Carolina Saturday morning.
Alissa Williams paced the women’s team for the second straight week with a 5:16.97 mile run good enough for eighth place in the field of 30, and for a Terrier school record. It is the second week in a row Williams has broken a school record in a meet.
Katie Kessler had the highest podium finish for the Terriers on the day with a third place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:21.30. Kathleen Woods had personal best and a tenth place finish in the shot put with a distance of 9.92m, while Sam Hughes ran a personal best 10:58.35 in the 3,000m and finished in 11th place.
Keenan Langley had a pair of 12th place finishes in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.91 setting a school record and in the long jump with a distance of 4.31m, while Nicole Klasnic took 14th in the mile run with a time of 5:25.47. Langley also set the school record in the long jump with a distance of 4.31m.
Alyssa Burket and Andrea Kelsey both finished in 15th place. Burket ran in a 1:02.77 in the 400m dash, while Kelsey finished with a time of 11:08.37 in the 3,000m.
Emily Gothberg just missed the top 15 with a 17th place finish and a personal best time of 2:27.61 in the 800m.
On the men’s side, Andrew McCurry and Brian McCracken took 12th and 14th with distances of 11.28m and 10.51m respectively in the shot put.
Bryan Youman finished in 14th in the 60m dash, while Chase West crossed the finish line in with a time of 2:03.48 good enough for 15th place in the 800m.
Wofford will take to the track at the JDL Fast Track Meet on February 11 in Winston-Salem for its next meet.
